Get started

GoodPDF is a desktop app — your file is edited where it sits, not uploaded and converted. Six steps and you will know your way around.

  1. 01Install it

Download GoodPDF — it is free — and open it. On Windows the first few launches show a SmartScreen warning, because the app is not code-signed yet — choose More info, then Run anyway.

  2. 02Open a PDF

File ▸ Open (⌘O on macOS, Ctrl+O on Windows), or drag a file onto the window. Several files open as tabs in the same window.

  3. 03Learn the two modes

Almost everything lives in one of two modes. “Edit PDF” changes what the document says — its text, images and links. “Annotate” adds marks on top of it — highlights, notes, drawings and signatures.

  4. 04Use the sidebar

View ▸ “Thumbnails” to move around a long file, “Outline” for the contents tree, and “Annotation Summary” to see every comment in one list.

  5. 05Work on whole pages

The Tools menu handles the page-level jobs: “Edit Pages” to reorder, rotate and delete; “Combine” to merge files; “Split” to pull a range out; “Compress” to bring the size down.

  6. 06Save, and enter your licence

Save writes the same file back — it stays a PDF, not a converted copy. The free version adds a small watermark when you save; when you buy GoodPDF Pro, choose “Enter License” from the app menu and paste the key you were emailed.
